Everyday is the Millennium started out as a 15-page poem, and grew into a 90-page poem: it was written between 1998 and 2003, with a few minor revisions, when the author discovered an unpublished portion of the poem. Al Gore, George W. Bush, and the Jehovah Witnesses are characters in the poem. The poem started out as an end of the world poem, but then a death in the family, and the September 11th events transformed the poem, from grieving for one death to a nation grieving the thousands who died in New York City.
