Notes From The Author It is my great pleasure to finally be able to share these poems. There is a poem in here for everyone with subjects including: concerns for a clean environment, racial tolerance and acceptance, disappointments, and finding God, to name a few. Also included are some peace protests and prayers. There are some funny poems too, about everyday things like our excessive need for flavored coffee and lattes and getting soaked in the rain. I have introduced stories with characters to make current day issues come alive. Such as Mr. Tree who comes to ask a human for his help in saving his fellow trees; and Zoo McPhee who realizes that his job making weapons is causing him to lose sleep and his peace of mind; and he does something about it. Then there is Ellie the tree, who is a young tree who wants to become human and does just that. I am hoping that these poems will inspire people to ask themselves questions like: why are we at war, and why would people want to cut down all of our beautiful trees and forests. If they do, where will all the animals go and where will our air come from if not from trees? Perhaps these are the questions God wants us to ask. Maybe we can change things for the better.
