1st book of series. Improbable Rendition is the adventure of an American writer who in the spring of 2008 was kidnapped under Operation Drop Out. The government's plan to squelch growing opposition, rather than just make people disappear, would be to kidnap the target, disorient and drug them, target's records including credit, banking, and any records of assets would be deleted. The targets were then dropped off as homeless junkies, on the streets, being no longer very credible. One night, one man and one woman escaped their captivity; they made their way to Berlin, where they thought they would be lost in the crowd. They weren't as lost in the crowd as they thought. Somebody wanted to meet them; somebody wanted to help them. Through teamwork they hit back.
