Throughout history strong women have risen above adversity and heartache. Goldie Womack is one of those women. Her heart is strong and resilient. Surrounded by love, Goldie desires no more than the simplest pleasures. In the deep south of the 1970s the tiny town of Reveille remains frozen in the turmoil of the civil rights movement. Goldie challenges the status quo when she volunteers to help her nephew in his campaign to be the community's first black mayor. Her world and Reveille will never be the same.
