Once the realm of classical music stations, the F. M. band became the launching pad for the FreeForm programming of the late 60's and early 70's. Unfettered by corporate controls, pioneering D. J.'s would spin virtually anything onto the airwaves. They would provide a Hi Fidelity outlet for Rock music that didn't fit the A. M. Top 40, 2 1/2 minute commercial paradigm. The Rock and Roll music immortalized by these pre-corporate programmers has become the Classic Rock of today. The music that has inspired the generations of Rock and Roll that followed.
