Take a journey with Carol Poe Straubinger as she reflects on her ninety years, beginning with her recollection as a child of how she learned about her father's death in a tragic grain elevator accident.

As a result, Carol's mama had quite a task: She needed to raise five girls on a 350-acre farm in Ohio. To make matters worse, it was 1930, and the Great Depression was well under way. Now, there was more to do than ever, getting help with farm chores and finding ways to bring in money. Carol's mother began selling products door to door.

Carol made her way through school, and she fell in love with a misunderstood musical instrument, the accordion. She also fell in love with her accordion teacher, John Straubinger, and was briefly an accordion teacher herself. The two married and started a music loving family with a number of unique experiences.

Enjoy Carol's insights into how a country changed throughout the years as she shares her triumphs, regrets and musings in My Chunk of a Century.
