Goonie's Ghost
William Behr Mueller
Is Goonie's Ghost a study in psychology? A look into anti-war activity? A love story? Yes to all three questions. The time is 1967 and Carl Steadman has returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam. Carl accompanies Rick Chappie, Pam Baker and Angie Boatwright to an antiwar rally in San Francisco. In San Francisco, Morton and Molly provide food and salacious shelter to the group. The next day the group participates in one of the largest anti-war rallies ever. Angie's daylong biting remarks disappear after a few drinks. She and Carl make love in one of the unused after march party bedrooms. Later Carl tells Angie about his experience in Vietnam, especially about the massacre at My Trang and Goonie's death.
