ZAPPIN' RUSTLERS is the story of Sonny, a constable in a rural Texas county. Elected without opposition just after he graduated from high school, he is discouraged because he feels that he has failed to win the respect of the citizens of Reddeen County, Texas. After an embarrassing incident with a local teenager, Sonny visits his friend, Waldo, to talk about the problem. Waldo, who is an inventor, supplies Sonny with a secret new invention that he claims will help both of them to improve their reputations and he asks Sonny to test the invention. This gadget, which is built from a bug sprayer and looks like one, uses a beam with a spectacular bright blue flash to "zap" criminals into a short period of hibernation. Now lawmen can shoot first and ask questions later. It seems like a perfect gadget to improve a young lawman's reputation.
