Texas life does not seem to offer much for the spirit: There is the danger with bandits and the Comanches, the parched wind combined with sand, and the hazard from rattlesnakes hiding out in privy corners.

Jules Rains does not have any reason to leave and move to Colorado if not for the Captain's suggestion and advice from Miss Buckley. But a straight trip to a new life in a faraway land changes after an attack by lawless Indians.

Now Jules has to change his path and head toward San Luis Valley, where he has to run his unexpectedly inherited ranch and start a copious life of farming and livestock with his brother.

But every journey has its twists and turns.
