My son Michael D'Auria was a probationary firefighter killed on September 11. There were so many stories to tell about Michael's short life and two special granddaughters who needed to get to know their Uncle Michael. So one day I started writing, which then led me to interviewing with family and friends, and before I knew it I was adding pictures. It was then I decided it needed to be read by many more than family. It's a happy story, not another sad one about 9/11. My son Michael was extremely loving and funny and I tried to capture who he was in this book, hopefully so that anyone who reads it will walk away feeling as if they knew him too.
