A casual look would see very beautiful pictures and perhaps be distracted by them. Should one begin to read the text they will find themselves captured by the subtle power of the words. Mary starts with reminders of the comfort and encouragement that are ours because of the faithfulness of God. However, she does not end there. The faithfulness of God and His involvement in our lives has ramifications on how we should live and what we should value. She does not hold back as she presses these challenges upon our minds and hearts. This has the potential to be a powerful tool of the Spirit in calling His people to evaluate the things we hold dear and be challenged about the truths we take too casually.
