Miss Lavington's Bomb: Stories & Poems
Art Washburn
Miss Lavington faces a problem!
In the 1970's, Miss Lavington decides to take matters into her own hands. After all, she's had to live with this bomb in her garden for over 30 years. The government won't help her, so now she's going to take care of the problem herself! "Mark's Story" is a series of seven views into the life of a deaf boy growing up in rural Colorado, the misunderstandings and traumas for both his parents and the whole community. Four additional stories display new insights into deafness, being alone in this society, and the excitement of being present at a Hopi Snake Dance.
