An Endangered West
Slippery Wind is a collection of poems celebrating the hard-edged people and places in what the author considers to be one of the last relatively undeveloped areas of world class desert and canyon country in the continental United States. Unfortunately, it is also an area suspected to be rich in oil and gas deposits. Despite the unique, primitive, scenic, and archeological wonders that abound throughout Northwest Colorado and the Red Desert of Wyoming, change is occurring at a rapid rate. Many proposed wilderness areas are being opened to high density drilling, multitudes of roads, heavy equipment of all kinds and other forms of energy development. Slippery Wind is a commemoration of what "is" before it becomes what "was."
David Morris' first book, Feral Country, is also available through Outskirts Press.
