The Duende: a Play
Lloyd Halliburton
Adapted from the author's novel The Duende: In the early 1960s, the Partido del Pueblo (Communist Party) had a plan to launch a revolution, seize the Panama Canal, and oust the United States from its role in internal affairs. In addition to members of the revolutionary group, which includes a rich, bitter politician and his aide, The Duende examines several unsuspecting characters who become privy to the plot: a widow, her gigolo, a model, and a young American expatriate. Their lives become intertwined, some of their problems are resolved, others compounded, and new ones created.
