Grandma Sadie liked scandalizing people. She enjoyed the attention. It became her favorite pastime, second only to marrying men which she did with gusto and regularity. When she bought a car and drove it alone, some of the members of the community complained. "You mean I should have some old goat driving around with me?" she asked innocently. Several days later, she showed up again in her shiny new car with a black and white baby goat wearing a leash and a diaper. "I couldn't find an old goat, so I got a young one," she said with a flash of an impertinent grin and a mischievous look in her brilliant blue eyes. She loved life and we loved her, and she started it all.
