Cardigan Jack writes poems when he is moved by thought or occurrences of a given moment. These episodes of inspiration could not have occurred without some biographical input and inspiration. However, Snapshots is a selection that relates mostly to his experience in the United States and not the Caribbean. Poems such as, "Oh, Diana", about a trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico; "Detroit", written from a hotel window; "Catskill Camping" or "Glimmerglass", written about camping trips exploit the description of physical landscape scenery. Others use the necessary social, historical, ethnic, and political statements that have been the fare of poets throughout the ages. Infused also, are the social commentary and romantic vent, an atavism of his Trinidad calypso culture. Some of the romantic poems are products of real life realationships, and others are fictitious creations. Often the pictures are reproduced on the page from a visual image and Jack intends to share these "snapshots" with the reader.
