Gabriel Brun, a good man, a man who has everything, suddenly experiences the loss of his parents, through murder, and the untimely death of his beloved wife. Depressed and guilt-ridden by these events and his ensuing financial bonanza he embarks on an ill-conceived quest for justice. Cognizant of how others, in his family, have fallen victim to life's travails and succumb to their basic instincts he fails to prevent himself from doing the same and soon is using 'good' people for his own purposes. Misrepresentation of his real objectives leads to lying, deception and death to innocents and, finally, to his killing other human beings, albeit, in self-defense or to protect a friend. Determined and desperate he has no choice but to push ahead and when, at last, he escapes his fatal web, through the intervention of Katrina and its horrible destruction, he must live with the knowledge that he, who thinks himself a man of integrity, has again profited at the expense of untold thousands! How does he do penance? How does he live with this horrible reality?
