In 1912 Delvin Miles and John Sims came to Cambridge City to attend the Lackley Horse Sales. They fall in love with Mr. Vinton's daughters, Flora and Clara. Finally, Delvin wins the Fox Stake over Harry Pownall and Victorious Hal with lame Blackhawk. Then retires to Pennsylvania with his famous stallion, Abbe Guy. It's a love story that lasts for thirty years.
