Oral tradition is alive and well in many families, with members of one generation regaling another with stories (embellishments always denied!) of times gone by. The Fitzgeralds of North Creek are no exception and the younger generations have grown up listening to "the aunts and uncles" talk about what their young lives were like, who did what to whom and how they got away with it, and how their parents coped with the challenges their children presented to them every day in such a large and boisterous family. Some of the Fitzgerald oral tradition has been captured here on paper so that it might be preserved for the large and far-flung web of Fitzgerald descendants. The stories are lovingly told and woven together in a single narrative by the family of Elizabeth Fitzgerald and Dr. A. B. Fitzgerald, who practiced as a country doctor in North Creek, NY during the 1920's, 30's and early 40's. Elizabeth and her Doctor would have loved this book! They were proud of what they accomplished together in their loving marriage, and they were proud of each of their children. Alex Haley once wrote that "In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future." Elizabeth and the Doctor would agree, and they would be pleased to see how well their family is maintaining these connections.
