The Scotch/Irish settlers took a steamboat up the Mississippi, Ohio, and Wabash Rivers to Fountain County, Indiana. Thegrandson, John Kerns, became a railroad man and married a Scottish lady. They moved to southern Ohio and she gave birth to Clarence Kerns. He and Wilma married and had 6 boys and 6 girls.
