This book tells the story of the struggles and triumphs of an African American man and his family coming out of the Great Depression through the Civil Rights Movement and into the 21st Century. The central figure is the family?s patriarch whose family lost their farmstead during the depression because of delinquent mortgage and tax bills. Despite this he went on to become a widely recognized builder and Baptist Pastor. Along the way he took some risky and defiant stands against the Jim Crow system that could have cost his life.
