Mankind has finally managed to almost destroy the environment, and with that destruction civilization has dramatically changed for the worse. Most of America's citizenry has been moved into cities that are covered by huge, plastic domes. But, some of the hardy, more independent-minded ones have chosen to maintain their freedom and live a very hard life outside of these cities with domes. Living on the outside is dangerous and uncertain , but by using their skills and intellect, these hardy souls are able to endure the hardships of that lifestyle. Millions have already perished because of global warming. All of the wild-animal life has suffered and many species are now thought to be completely extinct. Rain patterns have changed. Wind currents have changed. The ocean currents have all changed. Oil supplies have already been depleted, and remaining deposits of coal and shale oil are now being used to help supply some the energy requirements of the world. Solar and nuclear power are now the dominant sources of energy for the developed nations around the globe. The dishonesty and greed of the dome officials have stymied any major progress to aid in mankind's desparate plight. But, there are still those hardy individuals who live on the outside, and value their freedom and the environment more than mere profit. Can these people bring this planet back from the brink of total destruction ? Will wild salmon ever swim back upstream to spawn again? Will sea turtles, once again, lay their precious eggs on the sandy beaches? Will the beautiful, Monarch butterflies ever fly on their migration from Canada to Mexico again? Will the swallows ever fly back to Capistrano again? Is it already too late? Read this story that could come to pass someday, and find out if there is any hope for humankind's continued-existence, as we now know it, on planet Earth.
