Needlessto say many books have been written with Brooklyn as the setting. The WOLVES OFBROOKLYN, however, focuses on two major aspects of tenement-life justbefore and during the World War II era. The first focal point is the borough ofBrooklyn itself and details of its environs; and the secondfocus is on the minds, hearts and souls of the Italian-American immigrantfamilies who struggled there against much ethnic and racial prejudice to builda successful future for themselves in a difficultinner city neighborhood surrounding the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Althoughthe names of characters and some places have been changed The WOLVES OF BROOKLYN is very much autobiographical as are mostfirst novels. Which means that many of the people portrayedin the stories were constructed from the characteristics of real personalitiesknow to the author. And, many of the events portrayed were alsoauthenticate occurrences. Andyet an attempt was made to incorporate a tint of suspense and mysterythroughout. Also, a modest mingling of true major historical events are added for the accentuation of the realities of thetimes. ThereforeThe WOLVES OF BROOKLYN is the storyof the borough and its proud inhabitants.
