Benjamin Franklin Shambaugh (1871-1940) was an American author, historian, political scientist and educator. He launched the Iowa Journal of History and Politics and edited and published many important state government documents and biographies of important people in Iowa's history. He was superintendent and editor at the State Historical Society of Iowa, Iowa City, from 1907 to 1940 and wrote A Brief History of the State Historical Society of Iowa (1907).
