William Perry Brown
William Perry Brown (1847-1923) was an American author and reporter. He attended Madison College but didn't graduate. He worked as a reporter for several newspapers: St. Louis Globe Democrat, New Orleans Picayune, New York Globe and then a foreign correspondent for the New York Herald. At first he began free-lance writing then he wrote for various magazines including the Springfield Republican, Ainslee's Magazine, Golden Days, Woman's World, Chicago Ledger, Banner Weekly, Housewife, People's Home Journal and others. His works include: A Sea-Island Romance (1888), Ralph Granger's Fortunes (1902), Vance Sevier; or, From the Big Smokies to Okeefenoke (1903), Florida Lads (1903), Sea Island Boys (1903) and Our Jackies With the Fleet (1918).
