Henry Blanc
Sir Henry/Henri Jules Blanc, K. C. V. O., M. D. (1831-1911) was a British surgeon. He joined the allied forces in the Crimea, and afterwards entered Her Majesty's Bombay Army as Assistant Surgeon, becoming Brigade Surgeon later. He went on Special Duty to Abyssinia, where he was taken prisoner for nearly two years later writing about his experiences. On his return to India he was appointed Senior Surgeon. He was the author of: The Story of Theodore and the Captives (1868), A Narrative of Captivity in Abyssinia (1868), Cholera: How to Avoid and Treat it (1873), Compulsory Vaccination (1869) and Advice to Intending Visitors to Cannes (1893).
