Camus was a French Bishop and one of the most prolific authors of his period. He was a fervent disciple of Saint Francis de Sales, the Bishop of Geneva and a Roman Catholic saint. Camus' spiritual works were directly inspired by de Sales; he was critical of medicant orders and wrote extensively on poverty, grace and spiritual reflection.
