Master Jones Goes to Washington is a coming-of-age adventure story of a Florida high school student who is appointed to be a Page in the United States House of Representatives for October 1968. Unlike any other book of its kind, Master Jones gives the reader a humorous and unfiltered view of what really happens in Congress and a stark portrait of the daily duties and hedonistic pursuits of the Pages that work there, as seen through the eyes of Page Chuck Jones. One of the most turbulent periods in American history, the nation is reeling from the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. The Vietnam War and the Civil Rights and Student Protest Movements have created chasms that divide the nation. The players include two future Presidents of the United States, a Supreme Court Justice, and Congressional leaders. Scenes include radical student activists Abbie Hoffman and Rennie Davis testifying before a Congressional investigation into the riots at the Democratic National Convention that summer in Chicago. The reader is taken on a fun-filled journey that chronicles the political and historical events that shaped the sixties and defined a generation that would come to lead our nation and the world.
