Mixed-race novelist, Alexander Crossman, is on his way to keep a lunch date with a woman, he had just met. He is suddenly engulfed in a lightning strike which hurls him seventy-seven years into the past. His first inkling that something is wrong, is when a man shouts at him, "what you think you're doin', boy?" Then he sees the headline declaring Japan has bombed Pearl Harbor.
He uses his future knowledge to help his black community, by turning the hate mongers against each other. He falls in love, marries and begins a new life. But fate is not done with him. He is suddenly brought back into his own time leaving his wife behind. He eventually meets his otiginal date a beautiful, blond attorney and begins a relationship with her, but the knowledge he may still be married stands between them. Until someone he never expected enters his life.
