Growing up, Della channeled all her grief and rage into being a better gunslinger than The Kid. When she's arrested during an attempted train robbery, she almost abandons hope. To her surprise, she's recruited by a circuit judge at President Grover Cleveland's behest. She's tasked with infiltrating the U. S. Marshals and rooting out an agent turned trader. In exchange for her cooperation, Della is promised a full pardon and Pat Garrett's current location.

Her pa's murder taught her two things: never trust anyone and family is the most precious commodity in the world. These two lessons clash when she meets the Shade Outlaw. She and the Shade soon learn they have a common goal and decide to team up. Soon, Della's torn between the irresistible outlaw and her quest for vengeance while the Shade is determined to make Della his, no matter what it takes.
