This book consists of a series of short studies on the subject of Chronicler, the Deuteronomistic history and the History of Israel and its neighbors Assyria and Babylonia. The first paper looks at the attempt of two influential scholars, Wellhausen and Japhet to explain the Chronicler's "changes" to the Deuteronomistic history. The second compares and contrasts in short the provincialization policies of Assyria and Babylonia. The third looks at the way King Manasseh is treated by the two historians, the Chronicler and the Deuteronomist and raises the question of the consistency of the two reports. The fourth paper takes a look at the death of Josiah in the Deuteronomist and raises the question is the prophecy of Huldah regarding his death consistent with other theological ideas in the Deuteronomist.
