The ghost, as it conceptualizes as a symbolic entity, represents the past forever leaking into the present. The ghost is a relic of the past, while those who are said to carry around ghosts are the haunted. At almost every point in this collection of poetry, voices find themselves turning in one way or another to the irreversible past, becoming entrapped by society, culture, and the day to day struggle of dissatisfaction for what their lives have become.
