Mariam Justine Beyhum has always lamented the Christian/Muslim conflict which drove her Maronite Catholic parents, Joseph and Mona Beyhum, to leave their home of Baalbek, Lebanon. In Ottawa, Ontario, the family slowly built itself a new life. All is well until Mariam's mom falls for seductive Yemeni newcomer Suleiman, converts to Islam and divorces her father. Distraught, Beyhum clan patriarch Joseph moves to Houston, Texas. Mariam follows suit, and reconnects with her Dad. While in the Lone Star State, Mariam meets Rashid Montague, a charming Haitian-American law student, devout Christian and single father not unfamiliar with loss and betrayal. The two of them forge a bond which turns into mutual attraction. The question is, is Mariam ready to let herself love again ?
