"Fever" is the saga of a Medicare patient hospitalization for a fever of Unknown Origin. Details makes it a documentary about "medical errors&misdiagnosis." When Joshua Pelham refused to eat or drink, his wife tried to entice him to eat, but when he had a very high fever and several episodes of fainting, she felt obligated to seek help and took him to the hospital. After two months in the hospital undergoing many invasive tests & Ct-scans to diagnose his illness (FUO) Joshua passed away, leaving his wife devastated. She had stayed by his bed and taken notes about his condition, meds and whatever was happening. Once home, in her terrible grief she reviewed her notes to try to make sense out of her husband's death. These notes became the content of this book. When she analyzed the events, she was startled by the number of avoidable medical errors, omissions & neglect that precipitated Joshua's demise. Her account should set the trend for repairing patient safety and quality of care.
