One year into the Sukra Academy of Warrior Elite, Kebaatre misses home and has trouble bonding with his clan. At the request of their headmaster, the Adder Clan is sent into Kebaatre's home realm to deliver an important message to the king of the Sun People. Almost immediately upon their arrival, things go horribly wrong, and the Adder Clan is brought to the king's court as prisoners instead of messengers. The court and royal family are in disarray. The king sees enemies everywhere, and to Kebaatre's shock, looks to him for help. As much as he has missed the sun and sand of home, Kebaatre is now torn between his past and his future. Deciding where his loyalties lie is anything but simple, and whichever path he chooses will leave him with blood on his hands.
