Deli meat cutter Oswald Gray considers himself "average -- with a capital A." Except when the twentysomething is online, playing as the one and only Zax, the "perfect" MMO sorcerer. There's simply nothing Zax can't do -- provided he does it alone. Oz (and Zax's) perfect, solo bubble is burst, however, with the impending termination of his beloved online game "Lands of Glory," coupled with the sudden, terminal illness of Oz's unlikely, online (perhaps only actual) friend, Totem. Oz's virtual and literal worlds ultimately propel him on a quest to the Emerald City of Seattle -- accompanied by his faithful companions, Crow and Steele -- where he must convince reluctant developer Bertha Leon to bring back Lands of Glory's "final, unsolvable mission," that he may run it with his dying friend, in the process coming face to face with his own tragic past, and real life dragons."Lands of Oswald" is a full-length play with a running time of approximately 90 minutes. The cast features 3 males, 4 females, 4 of either gender, and several, optional, non-speaking roles. Contact information is available on the last page of the text for those wishing to formally stage the play.
