Zimbabwean surgeon Tango Ayanda is on the run from the law. She finds refuge in her mother's rural village of Mamvura, Northern Zimbabwe. Among the frangipanis and the ancient matrilineal Mamvura culture, Tango begins to rebuild her life. She thinks she is safe, until she finds herself embroiled in multiple murders. A disbarred lawyer turned domestic worker is strangled to death. A young man's torso is found stuffed in a crocodile's egg nest. A senior policeman is bludgeoned to death. A mortuary is set on fire. An aspiring politician is found almost decapitated and dead in bed. Who is the murderer and why is he or she killing? Rural police detective Michael Mafuri and his team investigate this modern day Zimbabwean murder mystery.
