Tsiyu'gunsini pointed north and shouted to the assembled whites, "Can-tuc-kee a dark and bloody land! Many die when they plant houses on our hunting lands!" He turned and pointed to Judge Henderson who been talking to Cherokee chiefs, "Blood on your hands!" He raised his arms as if to strike but suddenly turned and walked past the council fire taking a few young men with him. Also known as Dragging Canoe, Tsiyu'gunsini gathered many young families and moved west to begin a constant war against whites. His band would eventually be known as the Chickamauga Cherokee as they terrorized settlers heading west into Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee. Farther north tribes united around the Shawnees and through a bloody campaign Indians forced intruders east to Pennsylvania and Virginia. Soon, within the additional horrors of revolution, frontiersmen fought a brutal war against the British and Indians creating a new reality of American boundaries.
