The humble Gogen puzzle is a simple little thing that you can solve on a short bus journey but we'll have none of that here - there is a dark side, a very dark side and we are not even talking about an evil twin. There are three additional types of puzzle - the Uber-Gogen, the Ultra-Gogen and just when you thought it was all getting a bit difficult, the Hyper-Gogen puzzle. Gone are all of those comforting real words, the mass of anchor squares, the repeated letter bonds that real words insist upon having and being sort of confident that the Q and U were likely to be close to each other - all you have left is logic. These puzzles are truly difficult, an ideal gift suitable for any puzzle addict who is a cut above the rest and has a lot of time on their hands. The book consists of 25 each of the Uber-Gogen and Ultra-Gogen puzzles to get you started, just in case you have never done one of these before and then you have 250 Hyper-Gogen puzzles to solve. Each group of puzzles is graded with the not quite so difficult puzzles coming first to lull you into a false sense of security whilst allowing you to develop some strategies - what you learn from one group of puzzles, you can use on the next as they are all transferable skills. Of course, the answers are in the back so that you can check should you so wish. In your spare time, as an additional bonus and using an almost completely different set of skills, you can have a go at working out what it says on the front cover (the easy bit once you have figured out which writing system it is) and perhaps more importantly what it means - the answer to that is not given in the book but you will enjoy working it out.
