"I had to embrace a new way of living without letting go of the person I was raised to be."On the face of it, Nokhi's life was similar to millions of the black South African's who lived through the racial injustice of apartheid. And even though Nokhi lived in a township (an area designated for blacks to live during apartheid), Nokhi's life was different. It was only when she finished high school that Nokhi realised just what those differences meant. In her book 'Singing My Song Out Loud', she describes how she suddenly found herself being criticised for not being black enough by other black people. While on the other hand dealing with being overlooked by white people. Her book is an uplifting tale of overcoming personal tragedy and setback whilst still having the courage to redefine who you are.
