Naomi Cortez is a New York City librarian who does not want to go on an adventure, thank you very much. However, when she accidentally kills over two billion people while trying to read a book, an FBI agent and his charming brother drag her around the world on a quest to find the magical ingredients for a cure. At first, all she wants is run away, but as she falls in love with two little girls she simply can't leave on the streets she realizes the harm she has caused. To undo the spell, she must travel around the world solving literature-based clues and find the magical ingredients for a cure. If they can't find unicorn horns, phoenix feathers, dragon scales, and many other clues on modern day Earth by the time two weeks is up, another wave of the curse will sweep through the world killing billions more.
