In the summer of 1805, a younger son of a local baron is thrust unexpectedly into the world of the peerage. Being influenced by weekly interactions with members of the Methodist Society he begins to see issues from their point of view, especially concerning slavery. Once he's thrust into the world of the peerage he soon finds out his worst nightmares have come true and that he now owns several plantations in Jamaica.
