The Word Vel Veeramootoo

Vel Veeramootoo, a teacher by profession, is a sympathetic artist actor, producer, playwright and poet.

He has been actively involved in theatre and drama for the past 50 years and has produced some 125 plays in English, French and Creole. A well-known figure in the artistic world, especially in the National Drama Festivals in Mauritius and abroad a former member of the National Drama Committee in English and French sections winner of several trophies and awards in the National Drama Festivals Best Actor, Best Producer, Best Playwright.

He is acting drama coach at the Atelier de Theatre de Curepipe to promote drama among the youth. A resource person for Drama Development in Africa. He has attended several drama seminars in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, South-Africa and Seychelles.

In 2002, when he was working in Seychelles, he was struck by partial facial paralysis and had to suspend his theatrical activities, and that was not for long for God's grace was on him, and Lord Jesus touched him and healed him of his disease ever since he has given his life to Jesus and embraced Christianity.

Today, he is serving the Lord through theatre and poetry to evangelise the word of God and the Gospel.

This collection of poems compiled is the fruit of his indefectible zeal to work for the kingdom of God.

Readers will find undoubtedly a simplified explanation of the Bible enjoyable. Most of the poems have been recited in Mauritius, South Africa, Seychelles and Rodrigues. Some have been dramatised on stage.
