Jenna McKay wanted to go to college and become a teacher, or marry Joseph, or just live in the small town of Crookston, Minnesota and grow old. What she didn't want to do was move to Montana with her family, so her father could live his dream of being a rancher. The McKay family, along with two other families, would move toward an allotted land where other people from the town of Crookston were already Homesteading. The trip was expected to be long and tedious, but uneventful, and so it was until it wasn't.
