Our baking Earth, wobbles: unprotected in space. Hope is at an all-time low, and unbelievably, greed and ignorance continue to stoke the engines of progress. Corrupt governments, like those of Barton Dealer's, exacerbate the problem, They, ignore science, scheme, deregulate, and promote dirty energy. Respect for those who will inherit the Earth seems to be a lost sentiment. Humanlike aliens have come here to roost; perched, like vultures; ready to pick at what remains of our folly. They are also malevolent actors, seeking to take down our faint hope; John Brown. John recently lost his wife Margaret and son Gil in a tragic accident. A burnt-out case, his grand plan is to run away. Along the way he joins up with a young man, Brad, who is also running away. They head across Route 66. But the road ends in Gallup, New Mexico. John is incredulous when he discovers his role in righting the ship. He resists, but an unravelling cosmic plan, forces his hand. A Zuni scholar guides him as he struggles to harness supernatural forces. Others join the effort, but ultimately John is forced to face his demons, and act alone.
