Let Butch walk you through what it is like to be in a coma. He has been able to capture the feelings and emotions that go on while you are unconscious. Follow his wife's emails as she forms the timeline for this epic story with her emails. Emails that are interspersed with Butch's commentary on what is happening in his dream state as well as the vivid dreams he had that were more intense and lifelike than life itself. He grew up in and around Ogden Utah, a medium size town just north of Salt Lake City. The preponderance of Mormons in Ogden Utah, where Butch grew up created a natural selection for the coalescence of groups of social malcontents and rebellious natured souls in his youth at a time in US history ruefully or affectionately described, depending on your perspective, as the 60's! Although some may refer to him as an old hippy, he remembers himself as one of the freaks of the era. Now the difference seems unimportant and he most certainly was, along with his cohort of friends living the wild life. When ask about it he now simply responds that "we sampled freely from the banquet of life!" In 2010 Butch caught a hospital acquired infection that resulted in a long-term coma. He now feels that use of chemicals in the 1960's in many ways prepared him for his life in a coma. In his first full length book he describes his experiences in a coma everything from the joys of getting back together with a former lover to meeting Death out among a group of marble sculptures under the moonlight making a decision as to whether it was time to die or not. Butch has spent the past 40 years as a microbiologist studying such famous germs as the ones that cause anthrax, black death and tuberculosis as well as those causing periodontal disease and bacterial vaginosis. Most recently, Dr. Moncla has been studying human vaginal proteins and writing this book.
