First came Tales, then came Further Tales, now we have Fresh Tales, the third volume of shorter prose fiction from the pen of John Hilton, author of the novel That Is the Question, the poetry collection Narrator as Witness and a chunky volume entitled simply Poems. In there is a range of literary approaches and styles. Within there are five tales ranging from the ambitious sweep of Looking Outwards to the Centre to the small ensemble piece that is The Man at the Corner Table, taking in the strange family histories of Outside the Spotlight's Arc and A Past Fragmented and the religious intensity of Running from the Field of Blood along the way.
