Liz and Nick should have been dressed in their costumes for the Living Cemetery but were late, so instead, carried them in their bags. No problem, the Drama Club director assured them. "Take this key and change in the pavilion; just be sure to give it to me immediately when you return." The old-fashioned key didn't look as if it would fit any lock they had ever seen. In fact, it looked almost magical. But as soon as Liz touched the key to the lock, the cemetery had vanished, and she found herself on the Old Plank Road. Liz and Nick were still in Downers Grove, but the year was 1863, at the height of the Civil War. Why were they there? What were they supposed to do?
