This story takes us to a time about three hundred years from now, when devastating heat brings war, famine, disease and death-long known as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse-to our little planet. Societies collapse worldwide, though little pockets of humanity still survive. Two young people are sent on a dangerous quest to fulfill a loved one's wishes and, while struggling to find enough food to feed themselves, pick up odd bits of human and animal life along the way. They are challenged on every side, but, most important of all, fight to keep some human values intact in their, literally, dog-eat-dog world.
