The rainy days of June. In a house on a quiet street, three fishing guides gather for drinks and laughs. Men content to ferry clients eager to fish the rivers of Southern Alberta.

Armed men disrupt the evening. Gunshots explode into the night. When the smoke clears, one man is dead, one seriously injured, and the third is left to answer the question, why?

Brand Coldstream finds himself mired in doubt and suspicion as he sorts through the lurid details of the heinous shooting. The police like him as a suspect. To the bikers associated with the gunmen, he poses a threat.

Was the shooting random or was there a reason for the gunmen to pay a late night visit. Brand believes it was all a horrible mistake, but are his friends really who he believes them to be?

Who can be trusted when both the law and the lawless are thought to be one and the same and both sides are hunting for him. Short of options, Brand reluctantly turns for help from a person he'd left buried long in his past.
